Rachel Rose Seely -
Multi - Media Storyteller
After a BA at LCP, Rachel shot All Junglists: A London Somet’ing Dis (1994), the first documentary on London’s jungle scene. She went on to co-found Sharp Image Productions, directing music documentaries and promos across the UK’s multicultural dance scene during the 1990s. Having worked as a freelance editor and production co-ordinator, she later turned to screenwriting. Her first two feature films went into development with Channel 4 and Tiger Lily, while she further honed her skills through industry training programmes with Arista, Film London and NFTS.
Wanting to look beyond the media world, she travelled through Brazil, Southeast Asia and India. These experiences fed into her work, culminating in Songs of the Sapera, a feature documentary about a nomadic community in Rajasthan, now being reconfigured as a multimedia installation.
After completing an MA in Filmmaking, her practice shifted beyond the conventions of the industry into more experimental territory. Working across moving image, photography and writing, she traverses documentary and fiction in search of a language that is as much felt as understood. A late neurodivergent diagnosis has sharpened her fascination with nonlinear narratives, combining evolving technologies with haptic traditions to explore a more pluralistic approach to storytelling.
Alongside her film practice, she has worked as an Associate Lecturer in Film and Television at Anglia Polytechnic University (APU) and Falmouth University, as well as leading youth workshops in both London and Cornwall. Five years of running 42 The Living Room, a micro hybrid event space in Helston, have shaped her desire for a more collaborative practice, where process is as important as outcome.
Currently based between Cornwall and London, she is establishing Unlimited Dream Collective, an experimental space where people, ideas and disciplines meet to tell stories beyond conventional boundaries.
